Creativity: Always Cliche?

I went to the Hayward's Walking In My Mind exhibition over the weekend and was a little disappointed. The show attempted to look at the creative process and 'what goes on in an artist's mind' but was trite and formulaic. Full of cliche's and stereotypes (large paintings of surreal landscapes with clouds, mathmatic symbols and windows with fluttering curtains) it felt very old fashioned. It made me realise we need a more analytical and systematic approach to talking about and visualising the creative process. It's very fluidity and subjectivity means we need to NOT be fluid and subjective when trying to define it. This of course is very difficult, but my MA project 'Can You Learn To Be Creative?' will hopefully attempt to address this. Saying that, there were some interesting pieces amongst all the other junk.
